-Introduction

The RPG Maker Pavilion's goal is to allow people to share their RPG Maker creations. This guide will allow you to get the most out of your RPG Maker software and the site itself. Please follow the instructions for the console you are using.

-Playstation/Playstation 2 - RPG Maker 1

RPG Maker 1 sharing requires the use of a device called the Dex Drive, created by Interact. The Dex Drive has been discontinued for many years, but is still available for purchase online through retailers listed on amazon.com and ebay.com. After obtaining your GME file through the Dex Drive software, zip the file and upload it to the Pavilion through the Submissions forum. Please include the title of your game, a short description, and any details you believe the player should know. For security reasons, you should add a password to your game before uploading it. If your Dex Drive software stops functioning correctly, please download the first version of the software from our Tools section, as it has much higher compatability than later versions, and most modern computers cannot use the floppy disks that the Dex Drive software is distributed on.

Although you can store PS1 saves on PS2 memory cards, all PS2 file transfer devices will corrupt these saves during their use. if you wish to share or play RPG Maker 1 games, you will require a Dex Drive.

-Playstation 2 - RPG Maker 2, RPG Maker 3

There are three major file sharing methods for the Playstation 2. The Max Drive, the Shark Port, and the X Port. Out of all three choices, we strongly reccomend the Max Drive due to it's ease of use. If using the Max Drive, we urge you to read our article on the product in our Articles section, as some parts of it's software will corrupt your memory card if used. Following our instructions will drastically decrease your chances of losing your data. As with the Dex Drive, after you have transferred your save to your computer, zip the file and upload it to the Pavilion through our Submissions forum. Please include the game's title, a short description, and any details you feel the player should know.

Since there are three file transfer devices available for the PS2, You will inevitably download games that are not in a format that your device can read. To remedy this, please head to our Tools section and download the Save Converter, which can convert .max files to .sps, and .sps files to .max. Using this tool, you will be able to play every RPG Maker 2 and RPG Maker 3 game available on our site.

-Playstation 3 - RPG Maker 1

We also host some of the most popular RPG Maker games in the Playstation 3's virtual memory card format. To play these games, you will only need a PS3-compatible storage device and a computer. USB storage, Memory Stick Pro, SD, or Compact Flash will all work, depending on your PS3 model. To move the games to the PS3, download the PS3 format file listed in the game's directory, and unzip it. open the game's folder, and you will either see the files you need, or more folders labeled by card number for larger games. if you don't see more folders, then copy the files to the storage device. Insert it into your PS3, create a new virtual memory card (we suggest the game's title), and then select the storage device in the Memory Card utility. select each file, press triangle, and copy it to the new virtual memory card. load the slot, and you're ready to play the game. If your game has multiple folders, that means it requires more than 1 memory card. follow the above instructions for each memory card folder in the game. Only move one card's worth of files onto the storage device at a time so that you don't put the wrong files on the wrong virtual memory card. name the virtual memory cards in a way that you will know the correct order to load them in RPG Maker. In the RPG Maker software, press the "PS" button to change memory cards when prompted.

If these instructions sound confusing, head to the articles section, where there is a more in-depth guide, complete with pictures.

-Playstation 3 - RPG Maker 2, RPG Maker 3

We also host some of the most popular RPG Maker games in the Playstation 3's virtual memory card format. To play these games, you will only need a PS3-compatible storage device and a computer. USB storage, Memory Stick Pro, SD, Mini SD, or Compact Flash will all work, depending on your PS3 model. To move the games to the PS3, download the PS3 format file listed in the game's directory, and unzip it. open the game's folder, and you will either see the file you need, Just copy the file to the storage device. Insert it into your PS3, create a new virtual memory card (we suggest the game's title), and then select the storage device in the Memory Card utility. select each file, press triangle, and copy it to the new virtual memory card. load the slot, and you're ready to play the game. We suggest only putting one game on the storage device at a time to avoid games conflicting with each other because they use the same save slot.

If these instructions sound confusing, head to the articles section, where there is a more in-depth guide, complete with pictures.

-Notes:

We are always adding new RPG Maker 1, 2, and 3 games in the PS3 format to the site. If you have a special conversion request, send a PM to Valkysas.

The Submission forum is divided into seperate categories for each RPG Maker, as well as demo and full game sections. Please make sure you're using the correct category.

We also take submissions in the PS3 format. Just follow the instructions in the submissions forum once you move the save data to your computer. Please note in your submission that it's a PS3 file, so we can also convert it to a .gme (PS1) or .max (PS2) file to allow your game to reach the widest audience possible.

The RPG Maker Pavilion provides a download counter for all games hosted. To check the downloads of your game, click the game's title in our listings for RPG Maker 1, and the discussion link for RPG Maker 2 and 3. While the tracker once counted unregistered users' downloads, that has been disabled due to the possibility of people inflating their own game's download count. The counters may take a few hours to register a new download.
